About our Department

The City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department provides management and direction for the operation of Parks Maintenance, Recreation, Athletics, Golf Course and Cemetery operations. Our staff is comprised of 21 Full-time employees and 8 Part-time support personnel.  Our department continually strives to improve upon existing facilities while seeking opportunities for future development and expansion. We utilize partnerships to help us provide additional attractions for community events that increase larger participation as well as attract out of town guest.   

Our PHILOSOPHY is to preserve, protect, maintain, and enhance park space and recreational opportunities that improve quality of life and enrich the lives of the community we serve.  

Our MISSION is to plan events, programs and facilities that provide a venue for citizens to interact creating a welcoming, healthier, and more enjoyable recreation experience. 

Our OBJECTIVE is to provide opportunities for relaxation, learning and socialization that promotes personal growth and improves the well-being of every citizen.
